On this page there are a number of lesson plans and activities that we hope you find useful. We have also added links to other websites that have already created lessons on particualr topics. We hope you find them all useful.

KS1
Design and Technology
We recommend visiting the Recycle Now website, schools section. There is a lesson that involves the children designing recycling bins to encouarge them to take part in recycling.
Create a Rubbish Mega Monster with your pupils. This session is designed to help pupils think about how to rid of waste but also to encourage them to reuse waste by making something from it. (PDF 36KB)
Science
Again we recommend the Recycle Now website, schools section as there is a lesson on materials and their properties which also involves the children identifying the materials that can and cannot be recycled.
Composting
We would recommend visiting the Recycle Now website, schools and composting section or we would suggest taking a look at the Little Rotters website. On the Recycle Now website there is advise on composting as well as a pack that you can dowload and use with your pupils. On the Little Rotters website their is again a pack that you can download or order that is filled with activity suggestions including resources.
Other useful resources
The Environmental Protection Agency in the USA have a great booklet to download with some useful lesson suggestions such as 'Follow that bottle' and 'Making glass from scratch' that involves making a glass like material from sugar.

Music
On the Recycle Now website, schools section there is a lesson that involves the children writing their own rap about recycling.
