Barnwell Country Park – Recycling and Nature’s Recyclers

The Northamptonshire Waste Education team have launched a new venture with Barnwell Country Park. Each of us throws away 500kg of waste each year. To make it even easier for your school or group to find out about what happens to your rubbish you can visit the “waste wall” at the Kingfisher Lodge, Barnwell Country Park.

  • Exciting, interactive activities to encourage children to think about the rubbish they produce
  • Exhibits, games, lively discussions, and computer programmes all reinforce the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle message.
  • Come and meet our friendly worms and watch them wriggle!
  • See interesting and surprising things made from recycled materials.

Meanwhile, the park rangers link into the recycling message with outdoor activities themed around ‘nature’s recyclers’. These introduce children to the natural recycling processes happening all around us, and contrast them with the permanence of much of what we throw away.

There is a charge of £1.50 per child per half day session. An all day session including both indoor and outdoor elements and including a lunchtime ‘green lunchbox’ workshop on reducing the waste from their packed lunches costs £3.

Minimum charge £30, maximum group size 30.
